GUIDE · BAND
Share a setlist
with your band.
You've got the set and the charts. Your bandmates have a group chat and no intention of installing anything. Here's how to get everyone reading the same chart at rehearsal with one link.
Before you start
You need a setlist with charts. If you don't have one yet, prepare a set for rehearsal first.
1. Send the link
- Open the setlist and tap 🎸 Band practice.
- Leave charts on, then tap Share link and send it to the group chat however you usually do.
- Each bandmate opens it, types their name and instrument once, and taps Join band. That's it: no account, no app.
Only you need a Songroost account. The link remembers each bandmate on their own phone or tablet, so their notes are still there next week.
2. Before rehearsal: votes and notes
Bandmates can look through the set ahead of time. On each song they can vote, flag it as needing work, and leave their own take: a 1 to 5 level and a note, visible to the whole band. You see those notes on your setlist, next to each song, so you know what to run first.
3. At rehearsal: go live
- In 🎸 Band practice, tap ▶ Start band rehearsal. You're live straight away. (Already playing through the set? The reader's Band menu has 📡 Go live with the band.)
- Each tablet taps Join live and follows you: the song you're on and your place in it, line by line.
Need to change plans mid-song? The reader's Band menu sends a short cue, such as “skip the solo”, to every screen.
4. Mark up the chart together
The pen, highlighter and sticky notes work on the shared chart too. A mark on the band layer shows on everyone's screen; your own marks stay yours. Each bandmate can switch on chord diagrams for guitar, ukulele or piano from the share page.
5. Record it, then listen back
⏺ Record records the whole rehearsal, and Songroost bookmarks where each song starts, so afterward you can jump to the one that fell apart instead of scrubbing through an hour.
Want to share charts with someone who isn't in the band, like a sub or a sound engineer? Use ⋯ ▸ 👀 Share view-only link…: they can read, but they don't see your band's votes, notes or names.
Offline at the venue
Open the set once while you're online and it's saved to your phone. Bandmates on the share link need a connection; for a dead phone or a no-signal stage, ⋯ ▸ 🖨 Print / save PDF prints the whole set.
Try it at your next rehearsal.
Make a setlist, send the link, and see who shows up on it.
